Facebook Timeline: How to Get Yours Now

With the F8 announcement today came the unveiling of Facebook’s latest redesign and repurposing… Timeline.

I didn’t want to wait for a Facebook invite, so I found a way to get the Timeline profile now… hopefully this means I’ll have the time to make it look pretty and organized before the public launch (September 29th?) because it looks pretty bad when you first get started.

It’s not available to the public yet, but it is in Beta mode… and here’s how to get it for yourself:

– start a new Facebook app under the “Open Graph (beta) category)

– return to your profile and activate your ‘Timeline’

– publish now, but only developers will see the new profile (everyone else gets the old one until Sept. 29th)

Poker is a Ponzi scheme?

Very interesting article from the Wall Street Journal today… specifically talking about Full Tilt Poker but this could easily apply to other sites.

“The U.S. Justice Department on Tuesday accused poker celebrities Howard Lederer and Christopher Ferguson among other executives of a major poker website of defrauding poker players out of more than $300 million.”

Full story here.

This is of course in the wake of the online poker crackdown earlier this year.

*UPDATE: Full Tilt fires back in a statement to the New York Times.

R.I.P. Online Poker (as we knew it)

So in case you haven’t heard, some of the biggest online poker sites were shut down today by the U.S. government. Below is the message posted to Pokerstars.com, and the same can be seen at Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet as well. It’s suspiciously similar to the shut down of media sharing sites like ninjavideo.net earlier this year.
